To build a release APK (for sharing or publishing):
1
Generate a signing key (first time only)
In Android Studio: Build → Generate Signed Bundle / APK → select APK → Create new keystore.
Fill in the details and save the keystore file safely. You'll need it for future updates.
2
Build the APK
Select release build variant → choose V1 and V2 signature versions → click Finish.
Android Studio will generate the APK in app/release/.
3
Install on device
Transfer the APK to your phone and install it (enable "Install from unknown sources" if needed).
# Or build from command line:
cd YourAppName_android
./gradlew assembleRelease
# APK will be at:
app/build/outputs/apk/release/app-release.apk
